Attention stylistas! The coveted store LF opened today at 9 a.m. in West Village. LF is a fashion forward store providing young woman with the latest trends and unique pieces for their closet. I had the opportunity to talk with Mariel, a member of the LF team, about the exciting opening.
Describe the typical LF customer:
Geared towards girls who dare to be different, LF has become the must have destination for many fashionistas who crave upcoming trends on the fashion circuit. We have become well known for our innovative trends, our variety and assortment, and our personalized styling sessions. Searching the world, we have consistently been a leader in developing and unearthing fashion treasures. With our passion for cutting edge looks we are constantly receiving new and innovative product.

Why did LF decide to open in Dallas?
We decided to open a store in Dallas because we liked the energy in the city, and our target customer definitely lives in Dallas. Also, we have a lot of customers that have shopped with us before that are from the Dallas area.

What are the big trends you are seeing for fall?
The big trends we see for fall are cardigans, recycled vintage, animal, fur, colored jeggings.

Is LF Dallas interested in hiring SMU students?
YES we are definitely interested in hiring SMU students!!!! Send your resumes to

The store opening is coming at the perfect time, family weekend. My advice is to take your parent and shop away in reward for completing the first month of school! LF is located at  3699 McKinney Ave Suite 103B. For more information you can “like” the LF page on Facebook or visit their website

SMUStyle Fête Set: Uptown Makeup Grand Opening

SMUStyle Fête Set: Uptown Makeup Grand Opening

We are frequenters of the oh-so-trendy boutique L.Bartlett, so when owner Laura Bush (no relation to the former First Lady) decided to open UpTown Makeup — a beauty boutique on par with our Shop Savvy standards — we just knew a makeup revolution was imminent.

The West Village boutique (3699 McKinney Ave. Suite 102) carries all the lines you love (Smashbox, Fresh, Too Faced et al) in a sleek little shopper-friendly space.

Where we’ll be blushing Thursday night? Celebrating UpTown Makeup’s grand opening. See the invite for details!

Weekend To-Do

Bread Winners, 3301 McKinney Avenue

Bread Winners, 3301 McKinney Avenue

I kid you not, this weekend may be one of the greatest weekends. Labor Day just oozes greatness as it means no classes Monday, and it’s your last chance to wear white. So you best take advantage.

Friday Shop Date: First Tailgate of the year is Saturday, which means your closet is lacking one thing: a cute white dress. Find it in advance on a Friday shop date. The best news? Most white apparel will be draped over the sale rack since we’re in-between seasons, and after Saturday, all-white ensembles are far less fashionably acceptable. Check out Banana Republic at West Village or Highland Park Village for steals. I recently found a cute dress at the West Village location for $30 (marked down more than 50 percent.)

See You At The Boulevard: …but before I see you there, a brunch is a must. Bread Winners on McKinney is a staple in my brunching duties, but watch out for a long wait Saturday morning. If you’re needing a quicker fix, or a breakfast taco or two, head to Mattito‘s in Uptown — their patio is large and the inside space is even bigger, making your chances of a quick seat that much better. Then, I’ll be seeing you at The Boulevard, donning a white dress of course. We’ll be on the lookout for chic fashionistas to be featured on next week’s Spotted blog.

Sunday Funday: Love is too weak a word for the feelings I have for Sundays. Especially this one. Head to the House of Blues Sunday night and catch the simply amazing Paolo Nutini (set your iTunes to “Candy,” off his new CD “Sunny Side Up”). Tickets start at $17 for general admission, standing room only, or $12.75 each for a pack of four. I’ll see you there in the front row, at 8 pm sharp.
