Fête Set: Lucchese Trunk Show & Polo Match

Posted in Fête Set by SMUstyle on October 25, 2011

SMU students came out to watch the finals of the 2011 Dallas Pro Polo League on Sunday afternoon wearing polo chic attire. With a plethora of riding boots, sun hats, and blazers, the polo field was a place to see and be seen. Lucchese Boot Company hosted a trunk show at the event. The Texan company dates back to 1883 and is known for their handcrafted boots made out of the finest kind of leather and near-perfect skins. Their 1883 collection is fashionable and a true modern classic. Their featured SMU embroidered boot was a huge hit amongst students. Spectators enjoyed sips, music, and catering from Dallas’ beloved Hamburger Man.

Fête Set: Paris Fashion Week

Posted in Fête Set by SMUstyle on October 6, 2011

Paris Fashion Week came to a close today after fashion powerhouses such as Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Valentino, YSL, Givency, John Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier, and others displayed their spring and summer 2012 collections on the catwalk.

Paris marks the last of fashion weeks held semi-annually in the top four fashion capitals of the world: New York, London, Milan and Paris.

It was a week of much anticipated debuts with Kanye West’s first women’s fashion line and launch party for Kate Moss’s jewelry line. Kanye showcased his collection Saturday night on the runway. It was a mix of patterns, stark colors, and lots of fur. Will the future of his line turn out as infamous as his music?

Check out some of the best looks from Paris Fashion Week this year.

Spotted: Football Fashion on the Boulevard

Posted in Spotted by SMUstyle on September 11, 2011

This weekend the SMU football team took on the UTEP Miners in the season home opener while the campus stylistas tackled the boulevard in a “WHITE OUT”.

This fashion friendly theme was the perfect post-labor day excuse to wear white. Game day style included white dresses, chunky necklaces, bangles and small clutches. Some students added an SMU or sorority pin for a touch of color!

Cowboy boots were the tailgating shoe of choice for most girls at the game, adding a southern chic element to their look.

SMU senior Cori Bray went for a classic white lace look in this three quarter sleeved Zara dress with a brown waste belt.

SMU is a fashion forward campus and the tailgating scene is no exception. Students show up to the games dressed to impress and this weekend they showed their support by wearing white.

This Just In: SMUStyle Campus Editor

Posted in About by SMUstyle on April 18, 2011

SMUStyle Campus Editor, Meg Jones

A couple months ago, we began a search for the perfect SMUStyle Campus Editor. Our goal? Find someone to work with SMUStyle’s stellar team of bloggers, wrangle and increase our daily content and act as the face of SMUStyle on campus and beyond. Dozens of interviews later — we can’t say enough of the wildly talented pool of people we met with — we found the one.

Meet: Meg Jones. This SMU junior is a journalism and advertising major and plans to start the fashion media minor in the fall. Meg has spent three summers interning with the features editor at Vanity Fair, has contributed to The Daily Campus, The Daily Mustang, and The Daily Update. Aside from her editorial experience, Meg is well-traveled (she studied abroad in Paris this fall), well-read (her fave tomes include Jane Austen’s Emma and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald) and has a great sartorial eye (she credits her classic style to the casual ease of icon Kate Moss and the timeless elegance of Chanel). On a day off, keep an eye out for Meg shopping Highland Park Village or indulging in a bubbly brunch with friends. Also keep an eye out for Meg on campus, as she’s always on the lookout for new bloggers, stories and fashionable inspiration. Congrats, Meg!
