Fête Set: Fashion’s Night Out at Intermix

Posted in Fête Set by SMUstyle on September 9, 2011

Dallas is home to so many great stores, it was hard to pick where to celebrate this year’s Fashion’s Night Out.  However, having recently become a fan of Bravo’s new show Most Eligible Dallas, when I read that Courtney Kerr was hosting the event at Intermix, making a decision was easy.

The event with Kerr ran from 5-7PM and included wine, champagne and light hors d’oeuvres. The store was stocked with their latest fall styles, which included some amazing formal dress possibilities. I couldn’t help but fall in love with the Diane Von Furstenberg color block dresses, especially the Edna Belted Dress, which combines two shades of blue.

Speaking of DVF, Kerr hosted the FNO party wearing an amazing pair of lamé gold and black shorts by the designer. She also wore a Love Sam leopard blouse, and declared her love for the print by saying: “leopard is the new neutral.” Kerr was just as hilarious in person and was surprisingly down to earth; explaining that she chose this smaller event instead of a large publicized one like Bravo had offered. She even wore an assortment of forever 21 bangles, proudly showing off her great finds.

All in all, it was a successful FNO over at Intermix in NorthPark Center.  The atmosphere was relaxed, yet sophisticated and Kerr was on hand to provide both fashion tips and hilarious one-liners. With her standout style and dynamic personality, I have a feeling she will be hosting FNO events for years to come.

Fashion Insider: ’70s Revival

Posted in Fashion Insider by SMUstyle on October 20, 2010

Fall fashion is in full force and there is major emphasis on the revival of the glamorous and effortlessly sexy-chic style of the 70s. Everything from military-inspired pieces and faux-fur outerwear, to micro-mini shift dresses and bell-bottom jeans are some of the hottest trends for fall. Seen on the runways of Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Rebecca Taylor at fall Fashion Week, I was definitely inspired and have recently invested in a Yves Salomon fur vest from Intermix. It is my recent obsession! Fashion icons such as Mary-Kate Olsen, Rachel Zoe and Nicole Richie have been setting the trend ablaze for years and it seems to have finally caught on. So go raid your mom’s closet and take a trip back to the stylish 70s!

Fashion Insider: Fashion’s Night Out

Posted in Fashion Insider by SMUstyle on September 9, 2009

SMUstyleFNOReady. Set. Mark your planner! For tomorrow that is. Fashion’s Night Out is here! After helping plan the event this summer at Vogue, I personally could not be more thrilled to embark on this epic shopping journey in my home state of Texas. Vogue has paired up with New York and Company to plan the ultimate worldwide shopping excursion. Cities across the nation and countries around the globe are all taking part in the one night only, late night shopping extravaganza. Flagships, tiny boutiques, massive department stores, young designers, mainstream chains, and niche luxury names alike are keeping their doors open late on Thursday.

NorthPark Center and the Dallas Film Society are hosting a special screening of the film Valentino: The Last Emperor at Cibus in NorthPark’s CenterPark at 7pm with a Q&A with Director Matt Tyrnauer. While Neiman Marcus, is doing it big with a full-range of events including the life-size version of FASHION RULES, the world’s very first fashion board game. Stop by Intermix and grab a free $50 gift card and sip champagne while trying on an Herve Leger by Max Azria bandage dress with some Stella heels! Shop ’til you drop or ’til the doors close at 11pm, but don’t forget to pick up an official Fashion’s Night Out designer T-shirt and 40% of the proceeds will be donated to the National September 11 Memorial Museum at the World Trade Center.
