Fête Set: Art of Knox Festival

Posted in Fête Set by SMUstyle on October 24, 2011

Last Saturday night was filled with fashion, food, and festivities at the first Art of Knox festival.  Knox is a fun, stylish part of Dallas just minutes away from SMU, and there wasn’t a shortage of fun things to do.  Event-goers had a chance to try out tasty treats from the top restaurants in the area.  Raffle tickets to win big prizes were being sold to benefit the Friends of the Katy Trail.  Later in the evening on McKinney Ave., fashions by Terri Ives Couture were modeled in a beautiful outdoor fashion show.  The only thing that was missing from the evening was the art. I was expecting more presentations and appearances by local artists.  But overall, it was a fabulous event, and I look forward to Art of Knox 2012.

My favorite event of the evening was the fashion show by Terri Ives Couture.  I got the inside scoop from the owner and designer herself.  Terri Ives Couture sells ready-to-wear fashions, as well as custom couture fashions.  She describes her style as “fashionable but wearable.”  Her client is “a woman who loves fashion” and is usually 35 or older.  Even though most of us SMU Stylistas are still in college and Terri’s client is older, there were so many trends in the fashion show that are so relevant to everyone this season.  There was a lot of fur, which is one of Ms. Ives’ favorite fall trends.  I also loved that her designs are classic, but still have an edge.  Terri is inspired by fabrics and by watching people; she is interested in what her customers’ needs are, which we all can appreciate.
