Spotted: Jacqueline Ross

First day of spring semester and this girl is already so on trend! SMU Sophomore Jacqueline Ross wasted no time to dress to impress. She was even complimented by her teacher! Her gray satin tunic and black structured blazer are from H&M, which she layered over a pair of Banana Republic jeans. Her tan lace-up booties are a perfect transitional shoe for spring and great for walking to class. The Brahmin tote is the ultimate bookbag and in a coral python it will make you want to go to class! Jacqueline completed her look with a perfect ballerina bun. Officially the top knot makes it to SMU — what a trend setter! Happy spring semester and you never know you may be spotted next!

Art Smart: Thursday Nights at the DMA

Posted in Art Smart by SMUstyle on January 5, 2011

Dallas is full of cultural opportunities, but often times as students we tend to neglect these out-of-classroom learning opportunities our fabulously chic city has to offer. This year why not make a resolution to explore and experience art! The Dallas Museum of Art hosts events every Thursday night from 5 to 9 pm free for students with an SMU I.D.
Sip a glass of wine and listen to live jazz in the atrium or wander about the museum and marvel at its masterpieces. The options are endless and let us mention it AGAIN it’s FREE … for us at least!

This Thursday come by and see the 3rd annual Tenor Madness Concert honoring Marchel Ivery.

Shop Savvy: Neiman Marcus Last Call Sale

Posted in Shop Savvy by SMUstyle on January 5, 2011

Our PR friend Jessica at Neiman Marcus in downtown Dallas just tipped us off that tomorrow is LAST CALL. If you aren’t familiar with NM Last Call, all I can say is it’s only the best sale of the season. I could go on and on about all of the amazing deals I have scored at the blowout sale in the past… one time I found Chanel flats for $250 — enough said!

The sale starts tomorrow and goes ’til the 12th.

Beauty Blast: Pure Barre

Posted in Beauty Blast by SMUstyle on January 5, 2011

Incorporate fashion into your lifestyle and into your everyday routine with the newest trend, ballet-infused training sessions.

I know we can all agree that losing holiday pounds is a pain in the boo-tay. It is exhausting looking for the best new cleanses, non-boring workout routines, and modified diets — but there is hope! The solution: Pure Barre. On Monday, I finally succumbed to the hype of this new ballet infused regime, and I came to the conclusion that this is the best workout. EVER.

Nestled on Greenville Avenue, this workout studio houses a secret weapon: a total body workout that burns fat and produces lifted seats, toned arms, thin thighs, and flat abs by fusing elements of ballet, pilates and weights in a 55 minute intense session. The core of the class includes tiny movements and stretching, making it is the most effective, fastest, yet safest way to change your body while lengthening your body into one lean machine.

Credibility is strong: this genius technique was created by dancer, choreographer, and fitness expert, Carrie Rezabek, who was committed to creating a low impact workout that burns fat in record-breaking time. The workout launches a full-blown attack on the areas of the body all women struggle with — abs, hips, seat and arms.

The best part besides the array of rockin’ tunes (that actually have a beat): students see results in just 10 classes. This class is fun, results driven, and perfect for a change in routine.
